A Tribute to my father My Dad… He was the best father I could have wished for. He was never angry and he always tried to see things from my point of view. He always found time to play with us kids and was a good sport - playing hide and seek around the farm. I remember he would throw his voice so we would think he was in another other direction. He made me toys when I was little and when a bit older, he made me a soapbox on wheels; we used to call it “The Dandy”. He encouraged me to enter in the Praze-an-Beeble Carnival as a Steam Engine Driver, complete with a Traction Engine; it had real smoke coming out of the chimney! He must have been disappointed that I had little interest in farming but he could see that I was intrigued by electricity, so he encouraged me to wire up lights in my toy cupboard. He supported me in following my interests and when I started experimenting with photography, Mum and Dad allowed me to use nearly half of the house for my photographic studio and dark room. Dad built me a workshop in the old grain-barn where I experimented with electrical things. On the farm he worked hard. He was very fond of his animals and looked after them well. He was a man of many talents and did DIY, plumbing, electrical etc. He attended a welding course and had his own welding equipment. He made implements for the tractor and made his own gates. He would often modify the farm machinery to make it easier or safer to use. Dad had a tremendous Christian faith and as a family we worshipped together at Burhos Methodist Church. Because of his faith he was an optimist and believed the Lord would always provide, and he did. Dad was always there for me and will be sadly missed but he will be remembered in my heart, as the Dad who would do anything for me. Love you Dad Brian XXX
